Are you running a Thermostat under the housing?if so, just check it and make sure it's the right temp range for you application (~180deg). If there isn't one in there, put one in. I'm no expert but there is a specific way you HAVE to modify the T-Stat BEFORE it goes in by drilling a couple of small holes in it.

Can someone help me out here on the size of those holes?

Anyway, if you so have a t-stat, you may look at decreasing the size of the water outlet hose(s) to increase pressure but there are people smarter than me who I'm sure will chime in.

Check the Thermostat.

Since the cross over does not have a bypass, you need to make sure you keep enough water passing through for the headers. Some guys run stainless washers to restrict the water flow. It takes some experimentation. You want to be careful to not overpressure the engine as well if you do go this route.

I am not sure if its still available?, but, I know Moroso used to sell a "water restrictor kit", it has a pile of brass/bronze washers in it with various size holes in the center for the very thing you are trying to do, only in an automotive application, should work though, any speed shop should carry them.

I forgot, I remember someone telling me if you drilled 1/16 holes around the perimeter of the thermostat it would let water by pass through the thermostat until it opened completely.

See if you can modify the system you have with a bypass hose. Mine has a thermostat housing with a 8 AN hose that runs back to the crossover. Take a look at the EMI website and take a look at their kits. I also drilled (2) 1/8" holes in the thermostat around the rim. I use a 160 deg thermostat and the gage reads I think about 170 to 180. Hope this helps.

If this is a carb motor you need the 140* stat ....you HAVE to have the bypass if you run a stat ....with a bypass and a 140* stat you will still need to drill (2) 3/16" holes in the Thermostat to reduce pressure ...if you run the bypass you should run water pressure gauges also ...m
