Well, I took the boat off the lift today.. End of summer I guess. All the missing anti-freeze was in the bilge which is great. Seems like a leak somewhere maybe. Wasn't thrilled about taking heads off yet. Although, maybe I still will have to!

If your coolant all seems to be in the bilge you could be very lucky and just have a hose , clamp or seals under heat exchanger leak, all of which are easy to repair. Put a pressure pump fitting on the coolant overflow plastic tank, pump it up to 13-15 pounds pressure and go find your leak point.

Everything is tight, and no visible leaks. I have read some of your other threads, seems like maybe those seals?

Is a pressure pump a home made deal, or can I get that at sears or napa or something?

Thanks.

just to clear up, you are correct ONLY if you're buying gm or aftermarket dex cool; either which requires mixing with water.

If you buy the jugs that are "Merc" branded, then that particular product comes pre-diluted. Hence, it a mercury world you would be using 100% dex cool as that bottle would say to NOT add water... Not too sure if it's still around though...

Tried the sears POS pressure kit, not a chance. Any other DIY that I could try?

Although everything looks dry, there is water on the pulleys (and rust) and the belt is shot so I replaced that. Black dust everywhere.

I think I'm going to just dump it in the lake tomorrow, run it and look for leaks. I'm 5 minutes from the launch.

Wink These seals are the same as Polish Comdoms

A regular Stant , Snap On or Matco radiator pressure pump kit with the correct screw on adaptor fitting for the coolant bottle (believe its the same as the BMW adaptor) will allow you to pressurize the coolant system and check for pressure loss and leaks. I have seen the seals under the exchanger leak when the boat is stored for a few months especially in larger ambient tempeture swings.
Merc had a recall for these seals covering a few engine years so obviously there were some problems. If you're not sure, buy two new seals and install them as a good fix, they are not to expensive or difficult to change.

The correct coolant tank adapter is a Ford TA32 or FZ32 from Snap-On. From anyone else, just look for the "32" and their prefix only will be different in the part number.

The AST 32 is around 30 bucks and the snappy is around 48 bucks. Sears crap will only frustrate you.
