Helm and Trim Pump Fluid
Opinions needed for best Helm and Trim pump fluid.
The trim pump placard states 10w40 motor oil. However,we have seen corrosion in pump resevoirs after using 10w40 motor oil.
The helm instructions state Dextron III. However, not only can that be a slow fill, it can be a challenge to bleed.
Therefore,if type F transmission fluid has been found to work/ not work for either or both of the applications your comments would surely be appreciated.

daredevil, Thanks, but what formulation of ATF ?
My thought is that if ATF is to be used for both, Type F may have better anti-foaming properties and seal lubrication than other automatic transmission fluids.

How about a 5wt or 10wt hydraulic oil?
It has all the stuff for seals, additives to fight rust, foam and wear, and it is available everywhere.
Personally I have 5wt fork oil in mine.
