Default Is 30 PSI Water Pres. Too High w/525?

I'm getting mixed feed-back on this. I've been warned that my Imco shorty can cause excessive water pressure. With the 496 the pressure stayed around 10-15. I repowered to a HP525 EFI and pressure now stays around 30 at higher speeds. Will I be OK? Thanks.

What about if you're running an open cooling system?
Is it the size of the pick-ups in the shorties (or Sportmasters) that cause the increase in water pressure?
I saw gauges peg at 35psi on a friends boat recently and I'm wondering what the cause is, but more importantly, how bad is that for a motor with an open (raw water) cooling system?
