I have H2O in my tank. What is best way to get the gas out? Should I go through the fill or from the pick up to the engine?

This may not work for you, but here is how I do it. I drain what little fuel is left at the end of the season and put it in the truck. I have aftermarket MPI, I disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel filter. Then I direct wire the fuel pump, I fill up 5 gallon containers untill the pump starts sucking air. You most likley have a mechanical pump. I hope that helps. Better to take the time to remove bad fuel than to ruin a engine.

What i done with mine was remove the fuel sending unit located under the seats and drained with my oil change pump for removing oil through the dipstick.

If you dont have an anti-siphon valve you can put a hose from pickup in tank thru the drain plug hole, block off tank vent, use a shop vac or air compressor to blow air into fill neck for tank(little air at a time) it will push the gas out the hose and you just keep filling gas cans till tank is empty.
Using any kind of electric pump other than a fuel pump could be hazadous to yourself and others!
PS: If you have the anti-siphon valve remove it and replace with regular fitting and put it back when your done

I bought a boat a couple years ago that sat for 3 or 4 years and I siponed it thru the fuel sending hole and local waste management place took the 25 gallons of old fuel. (they burn it in the incinerator). They even loaned me a collection of 5 gallon cans.

I had about 75 gallons of that a few years back. I siphoned it into a 55 gallon drum and some 5 gallon cans. Because water and fuel seperate, I then siphoned off the fuel from the top of the barrel and burned it in my cars. I dumped the five gallon containers of water/fuel mix into the barrel as it had room. The 5 or so gallons of water/fuel left at the bottom of the barrel when it got low I mixed with spent motor oil and used to start my burner barrel and bon fires.

If the fuel has any ethonol in it I wouldnt do this, the ethonoal is hdroscopic and absorbs the water. Not worth the headaches for some free gas IMO.

i disagree that this would not be a quite satisfactory approach ethanol or not. Water is water and it will go to the bottom even if there is 90% fuel, 10% ethanol vs 100% fuel. What is your proposal for getting rid of the fuel then, dump it out behind the garage ?

Just dealt with this. used vacuum pump to pull out most of the tank (water and fuel) through the fuel pick-up. added some dry isopropanol to the tank and filled with fresh gas. no probs after. poured fuel off the top of what was pulled out until mainly water left. mixed it with recycle morot oil and the rest I put in cans to burn in mowers, etc...

if you have more than you'll use in your mower, donate it for neighbor use...
