I recall seeing a plastic prop cover that would protect swimmers if they get too colse. I think it consisted of a plastic cover and a bungi cord to attache it. I don't remember where I saw it though. You just have to remember to remove it before you decide to take off.

what kind of lead time does York have these days?can they turn them around pretty fast?

Dyno, John at York told me ,about a week and a half, plus shipping time. I don't have to worry a round here , we hardly ever get in the water before May!

Thanks to all ,for the replies, i will post the results ,when i get the prop back.

You can get the plastic blade covers at most marine stores West, Boat US etc. you could also probably use one of the red nylon Merc covers that just expand over the prop. I would think being red, it would be less likely to forget it back there than a towel.

Bronson/Hill propellers in Santa Ana, CA will lab a 3 blade stainless for $150.00. I have heard nothing but good things about them. 5 business day turnaround time, then add shipping time each way to that...
