The gen 5 cam and lifters will work in a mark4 generally, you will just have to run a good timing cover and a cam button because the mark4 does not have a place for the retainer plate on the cam. If the lifters are the tie bar style they should work fine. Most aftermarket heads will work on multiple generations, and I am guessing the edelbrock are in thet group, but you can contact them to find out for sure.

yes the lifters are a tie bar setup because a gen 5 is a non roller cam motor. Also the oil pan will not work? Will i have a pretty good motor if i stroke that 427T to a 510CI and keep the sidemount whipple? Anything else i should know? Thanks again everyone for the help

The gen 5/6 one piece oil pans will not work on a two piece mark 4 block. I also do not think the intake from your short deck 502 will fit on a tall deck block. I also assume that since it is a side mount whipple that this is a efi application, you will have to get your computer caliberated to work with your new setup.

Some others on here will know better then I what will and will not work, and will hopefully chime in.

There are spacers available for the intake.

you can run spacers for the intake
oil pan will not work,
cam and lifters will work
but like mentioned above about the timing chain cover and cam button
you might be better off trying to find another 502 block if you can,
theres a few floating around check ebay, craigslist,
and some of the car racing sites like yellowbullet.com, racingjunk.com etc. even some chevy forums,
I think if you go with the 502 block it will avoid some headaches
I would not run a big stroker 427 like that 510 CI setup
I would rather just run a 502 if it were my motor

well the 427t block is free, and i would have to buy a 502, and the cheapest i found was 1200 and i dont even know if the block is good. Then i would have to spend money on a good rotating assembly. OR i can get that 427t for free and spend some money on the rotating assembly and be out alot cheaper. Also have a better torque and higher rpm motor. Does that sound about right? if theres any holes in my theory let me know?

Strokers have more torqe. I like the strokers at about 5400 RPM. Bigger bore and short stroke rev more RPM to get HP. Running 6000 RPM to get the HP is hard on your drive. I bored and stroked a 454 to a 489. If I could do it over I would have built a 540.
