Total junk out of the Box...... filled with crap and nothing adjusted right and bent parts loose bolts and leaking too. It took 2 carbs from jegs to make one clean adjusted and not leaking at the baseplate and all the bolts tight too now.
Now tuned and runs great they are a nice carb when you build it yourself they should just sell them in build your own carb kit ..........A lot less of people would not be pi$$ed off . |

I have purchased 4 and everyone worked great for me.

I had one on my old boat, flawless.
My brother has one on his 22 Donzi (HP500) his is great too. You have to read the instruction manual and make sure everything is pre-set right. Then go through the installation process. Not a big deal. Ran great, engine started like it had EFI. |
C&S specialties, aerosol carb best carb i have ever tinkered with:) best throttle response....

We put an 850 MD one on my friend's ZZ572 . No issues other than it was a bit small .We replaced it with a 1050 Dominator .

Problem is you only have a couple of choices that are CG legal. None of the custom carb builders mentioned are among them as far as I am aware.

Wobble , both the 850 Mighty Demon and the 1050 Dominator we used are CG approved with the 'J" tubes installed .

I have used BG for about 14 years, with excellent results. But I will state that any of the standard production run carbs of which some of you are maybe talking about seem to always have issues. I would say 99% of the carbs I use are the RS style, these are built by one guy, then my salesman, takes them and inspects them before shipping, quality control I guess. The 4150 RS 1025cfm very simple tune-up, the 1050 or larger RS, seems to need air bleeds drilled in the metering plate and smaller air bleeds on the wells, lots of work! Not for the standard guy that wants to just bolt it on. They are coast guard approved. The 4150 1025 cfm RS is a excellent carb for a 540. I have used 2 of the same on a blown application with excellent results.
Now comes the dirt! I'am tried of working the carbs on the dyno, for Barry's pocket. Plus a 2 week delay. So on the last build I used 2 1150 from Pro Systems, from RM BUILDER, he is your best source. Had to make a idle adjustment in the boat, no changes on the dyno. Nice bolt on, he was right on with the head and cam specs from Bob. |
