They have been doing them for years. I believe they are all drag motors though. Lots of big everything to swing at 5-6000rpm for extended periods of time.

I am not sure about the system you were running. But I have about $4K in my Holley MPI kit. I use it on a 489CI stroker. At the time the marine ovals only came with 30lb injectors. I had to buy 42lb injectors and sell my old ones. Also I had to do a bunch of porting on the intake for the Large Oval heads, the kit was designed for penut ports. I upgraded to AN lines and fittings, the kit came with standard rubber hoses and fittings. The 1000cfm TB will work for most engines but the dominator style with 2000cfm would work for the bigger engines. Labtop programable PCM works great after upgrading to wideband. The carb is much cheaper, but I do like the drivabillity, Idle, and everything else that comes with MPI.

because it isn't much more for the parts then building a 598'' bbc,and i can run 2 1250 holley carbs[but i'd like to learn how to tune a efi on a large gas engine, ive allready fuel mapped a duramax diesel-using EFI LIVE],and build a 10.5-1 motor, not to build it on the edge [no superchargers, turbos or nos] and maybe get 150-250 hrs run time ,and most of all i haven't seen this done before

I definately get the fun of building something that hasn't been done before... but what kind of horsepower do you think it will make?

I guess I wasn't clear. Port throttle body injection from Kinsler with the custom marine flame arrestors. The single throttle body set ups are more absolutely more affordable.

If you want the best elephant motor around go to Sonny Leonard. For about 70K you could get a 800" turnkey motor from an experienced builder in stead of trying to piece one together yourself. I think some of the part prices you are showing so far are quite a bit low for what you talking about building.http://www.sonnysracingengines.com/

sonny lenard built the org hawk eng's in my 42' cig revo,i have talked to them on several things, but most of his big eng's are drag/pro stock types, his prices are full list,i think i can do this a lot cheaper, headers can be made by any marine header maker,we'll see
