When talking about parts this is true, If you talking about motors it isn't as true.
If you look at what you get with a Merc Package, they are not that much more. All the accessories, Front and rear, Bellhousings, coolers, usually transmissions, Electronic Port Injection, Warranties. Very good internal parts. They aren't that high when you consider the whole package. And your resale will be much better.

I dont know if anyone remembers the triggfrie's (sorcerer) Skater. It had 700 + ci motors in it with swedish made blowers. It was a nightmare on motors they were like 2100 hp each but didnt live but for a days. Last I had heard they had major reversion issues with large cubes as well thats why we dont see them as much as on the strip.
