Bravo "y" pipe removal

I'm curious. What is the benefit of removing the Y pipe?
I have an '06 292 that came factory with Corsa 'Quick & Quite' just like what is shown in the pic. It is non-switchable and open all the time through the transom and down through the Y pipe and out the outdrive. Compared to only flowing out the transom it seems like this would be less restrictive, quieter and may also help with getting on plane with the exhaust aerating the water a bit allowing the engine to spin up(?). Or am I wrong about this?
Thanks,
Dave

I think it is a performance thing... also, it's nice to get stuff out of the engine compartment. I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I have a y-pipe, but it's capped-off at the top. I am saving-up to buy the switchable actuator. In my area, noise is a huge problem.

The only benefit is the exhaust note for only those who appreciate it. If you keep the engine stock , there's no performance OR rpm gain after the removal. All my boats in the past had through transom exhausts until the one I have now. I have 04 6.2 MPI's that had Y pipes until I gave in to my son's request to make some noise, lol.

Thanks guys, but if pocketchange22's 292 is like mine it already has through hull exhaust. It should either have the Quick and Quite (non-switchable) or Captain's Call (switchable). IMO it sounds good as is.
pocketchange22, why are you removing the Y pipe? I guess it may be louder, but shouldn't breath any better. Again, just curious...

hello, can you update the link of the parts needed to block ?
thank you
thank you
You also have the option to leave the Y-Pipe in tact and just use these Caps to plug it off.

Or if you choose to remove the Y-pipe make sure you block it off with the appropriate plate.

Good Luck!
