Question Hydraulic Steering Helms

I am currently using a Hynautic system and want to go to a full powered hydraulic system. I like that I do not need the power steering pump and relying on a running engine, but I want faster response.

Whats everyone using for their helms? Char-Lynn helms? Need some input.

I run an Eaton helm with an Imco single ram system on my Stinger 222. Good set up, feels good at speed and is a dead simple set up.

Different char-lynn valves can be used to suit your taste as far as responsiveness and turn-to-turn.

My current valve is an Eaton 211-1007-002.

Here is a place that you can get the char-lynns from, prices are ok, not great but not too bad.

I think I got my char-lynn on ebay for like 50 bucks or something.

Yes, I've been watching ebay and was wondering what I should be looking for. Is the Rockcrawler systems similar? I have a twin ram system that is about 25-27 cu. in.

Also I can't get your link to work.

I think the rock crawlers (off-road only) that go full hydro use something similar.

I know I was specifically looking for that part number char-lynn valve when I bought mine. Here is another pic I found somewhere with the same size helm. We installed one in another boat awhile back and it was the same size as well, a dual ram Mayfair setup and it works pretty quick.

The website was http://www.surpluscenter.com, I just tried the link again and it seems to work???

Mine is an Eaton unit that crossed to a forklift, I'm not sure of the number right now. I'll try to look it up later.

You might give Rik at Arneson a call. I bought one from him quite awhile back that was not that much money.

Hey! That's my helm!

I'm running it with a single ram and it works great!
