Wrong Arm

The one from the local parts store will have the wrong arm on it. You could just change the head, but will have the mentioned fastener headaches.

I forget to mention you use the top half of the stock marine pump.

When I was at the Atlantic City boat show I spoke with a Holley rep. who stated that Holley supplies the pumps to Mercury Marine. He showed me one in the catalog, and stated that it would bolt directly to the sea pump. I do not have the part #, but I do remember that the housing could be twisted so that the inlet/outlet locations fit your particular application.

If tou go with an electric feul pump you dont want one that dead heads into a regulator or carb you want to run one that has a return system its alot more work but well worth it.In our boats we run the Magna Flow 275 pumps and we are dynoed at 630HP.we got tired of constant belt problems with the sea pump mounted feul pumps.went threw 4 of the mallory 140's in one season.

What was the problem with the Mallory's?

brian41 04-25-2002 10:24 PM

because they don't have a return system to to tank the pump is always under load with no way of cooling down. the 4 pumps we bought were for 2 different boats all 4 failed .I'm not saying the magna flows haven't been trouble free but that was pumps they built 2 years ago. they had magnet problems but they have taken care of it and have about 300 hrs. of trouble free operation. They are all i install on customers boats .i also just purchased their500 gal. pump for my new engine dyno.
