I learned the oil cooler the hard way myself. Someone sold me a used one and I took there word for it. 10 hours and another expensive engine bit the dirt. I will only buy NEW now and put the filter after it.

What wasn't setup correctly to make the cam go flat, roller cam?

Then the hydraulic roller cam got trashed at first from debris and then the valve springs were too stiff making the lifter skip off the cam and make hard contact... ate it up. i had my machinst install springs for a hyd roller.... he was wrong.

like to get 70mph with what i have but who knows. 435 hp 502, gm highrise intake brass lined(salt) holley 800 DP, EMI exhaust Long tube stainless risers, and i was running a 24 B1 prop 4 blade that im thinking may work good. Think i'll get 70? I was doing 59 with 330hp 454 cast motor. My drive is complete freshened up no play anywhere all new bushings, steering shaft so steering wise im niceand tight.
What do u have for power, speed, prop, and so on?

I do not think the drive is gonna give me more top speed. My plaining sucked and my acceleration was awful. It would get going though. I think my marine kinetics engine is what may make me hit 75 on a good day. custom cam, 509 displacement and some other misc stuff. cant wait until summer! i am in the prosess of glassing in the new stringers i had to put in. Yyou should install drains on the engine stringers before it is too late. you should have seen the rotten wood.
I removed every last screw holding in the trim tabs, hydrolic hoses, gimble, tie down hooks and removed swim plattform and let me tell u they did the worst sealing job i have ever seen, most didnt even have silicon/ 4200 or 5200 on stuff, so i redid everything, the drain was leaking but i caught it in time and no rot. If you havent i would reseal everything with 4200, its a pain but well worth it, I also did a OL 25 aluminum platform, i'll try to post pics if your interested.

The PVS plugs on the prop are still intact correct? I have never had any mirage blow out on me. Except for one 21p mirage plus that someone took the plugs out of the back.
Mirage plus props are sometimes nicknamed "baja cupped" they are the best for speed and carrying the bow on a OL. I also have a 24p Bravo1 i do like it but i get better performance out of the mirage and like it has been said before the drives on out boat are deep and the 3 blade will work a little better.
Also, Call BBlades Brett is an expert and he will confirm many things said here. and he can get you closer to that 70mph goal by lab finishing the prop.

Every mirage i have had had the PVS plugs. I think it is for outboards to blow a bubble then collapse giving them a good holeshot. I am not certain on that fact though. It is weird to hear a mirage blowing out. They really are good props for bajas. You are practically running the same pitch in the B1 and will sacrifice top speed with a 4 blade.
