Default Oil pressure guage

My oil pressure guages do not work. The engines produce great pressure,I hooked up a mechanical to make sure.Is there any way to test the guage and make sure that it is not wiring.I have new sending units. The guages are pegged high with no power. When power is applied they go to zero and stay there with the engines running. If they are bad does anybody know where I can send them to get fixed. They are older VDO and would hate to replace all the guages because I am sure that they do not make that style anymore.

Have you ever pulled the motor? Is their a chance that you have the guage wire on the low oil sender. The low oil sender is the small one. The big one is the guage sender.

You have the wrong sender for VDO. You probably have mercruise senders. They will do exacty what you describe. I just switched from vdo guages to gaffriges. Didn't change the senders and they didn't work. I also have the vdo senders that are yours for the cost of freight. I now have the gaffrig senders and all is good. vdo has the voltage reference backward to Merc and most senders we see.
