It looks like it was phase seperation. Drained the gas tanks and refilled with treated gas and have put atleast 10 hours on both engines without any more problems.
Im keeping the tanks full and haven't had any other problems since.

Be careful about keeping the tanks full. If there is any ethanol in the fuel it can absorb its weight in water. Also ethanol based gas loses up to 15% of its efficiency over 4 weeks. I know the old standard was to keep thing full to prevent condensation but now it is better to manage your fuel and continually use and renew. I fought this battle with my big boat. I ended up emptying all 5 tanks and flushing with the Starbright product and adding fuel all is well now. I did however add Racors in front of my original seps.
As an FYI I just pumped out 165 gallons out of my big boat and the The Village of Pleasant Prairie Wi has a hazardous waste recycling day and they were nice enough to take it for free. Big savings Waste management wanted several hundred dollars per barrel to take it. Its worth checking with local authorities to get rid of the old stuff.
Also if it has phase separated polishing will do no good even if you could find someone to do it.

I run some performance snowmobiles and my cat. I have seen the new ethonal blend in many colors, Black, Green, Brown, and watched it eat fuel lines and fuelpups. In the carb bowls after evaporation it seems to change to green from brown or black. I was left with a white powder this year and a bunch of it. I would bet the farm it is old fuel. Dont run the stuff anymore, after every two stroke I own leaned out (i didn't treat them) and blew up I use the marine stabil and ONLY premium 0 ethonal fuel. sugar in the tank will go right through the system. Unless you put in 20 lbs of it you would not notice. Drain her out and keep good fuel in it. Dont forget to drain cabs for prolonged storage!
