I had Procharged 500's in a V-hull. That 50gph isn't far off. Insurance for non-cat experienced driver will cost more than the fuel you burn all year.

My 31 Cig Bullet burns 40 GPH w/ 575 HP each. My boat is for sale and could be a great boat for you!!!!

Thanks for the replies. Right now I'm just doing some research for a possible "project".
The owner of the boat pm'd me with some info.

:D

I just filled up last night.....and did calculations that I probably shouldn't have.:drink:

I went 136 miles (95% of this was 3600-4000rpm's) in a 38 Cigarette with 800's
I burned 171 gallons

That is .8 mpg...or 1.25 gallons per mile

70 gallons of AvGas @ $4.70 per=$330
101 gallons of 93 octane @ $3.279 per= $330

So, that's $660 to go 136 miles for a grand total per mile of .....................$4.85 per mile.

Like everyone else has said, the gas isn't the expensive part.....breaking chit is and everything breaks eventually.........if you use it :)

Last Saturday Long Is Sound

My 382 was probably the slowest and nearly the only powerboat boat out there Saturday afternoon. Sea's were 3's an occasional 5. I trimmed 3 down backed off to 30 MPH and had a fairly soft ride. My Granddaughter was asleep in the back seat so I wasn't going to get crazy but I couldn't help but wonder what the ride would have been like at 50 - 60. One of you guys must know.

P.S. I am the slowest guy on the highway too.

My apologies I meant the above to be a new topic

What does that translate into GPH? Roughly

I agree with all the comments about gas being the cheapest part of owning a HP boat. Every year something unexpected breaks and usually has big costs associated with the repair.
I can't imagine what your insurance will cost
Unless you have a lot of cash to burn do yourself a favor and start out with something to learn on first. JMO

I run a 382 with 500 EFI's and burn slightly better than 1 gallon per mile at 3800 rpm's.
Good Luck with your project.
