Okay...

I've got both my 454's out of the 292 Formula and I am completely going thru everything in the bilge.

This is my first experience with a Mercathode set-up, and I'd like to eliminate it completely, as it is both ugly and obnoxious where it is located.

If my boat will never see salt water, can I do that?

What about the relays that are connected on the same bracket as the Mercathode, that bolts to the motor, are they the starter relays? (They look pretty small...)

Anything I should know before I yank 'em out of the wiring harness?

Anyway, I'm up near Sacramento, CA... I'll maybe drop this boat in the salt water just for the day once or twice this year so that is why I'm asking.

Yes that is the starter relay. A couple other wires would be to the trim limit switch. I haven't been using my system for a number of yrs and have had no corrosion problems. My boat stays in overnight at most generally.

I'm also using Konrad mechanical drive indicators so the trim limit wires I won't need either.

If you remove the complete system, you can still just install the anode under the gimble housing where the external unit is if you still want some protection, (assuming you have the gimble mercathode vs the transom mounted pucks). You may also have the ram, prop shaft and cavitation plate anodes. Anodes alone will be fine for the several times a yr. The mercathode offers a higher degree of protection, especiallly for those boats left in water full time. Trailered boats really can go without.
