Question Bravo I won't go into Reverse

I was out all weekend with no problems and when I came in at the end of the day today, I could not put my port engine into reverse. Forward works, but no reverse. Anybody have any ideas? (I do have trouble finding neutral with this engine a lot)

Sounds like cable adjustment to me. Check it at the motor side, pull the cable off and turn the end a few turns towards reverse. I believe you need to screw the end out more. Spin it a couple times and then try it again, do this until it shifts right from forward to neutral to reverse. If that doesn't fix it you will have to try something else, but the same thing happened to my Bravo last year. Be careful not to shift when the motor isn't running up the drive is trimmed up high. Both of these things will stretch your shift cable.

Interceptor,

Did you get yours fixed? If so, what was it?

Your shift cable may need adjusting however, I just had a similar problem with my port side Bravo I. I went to pick up the boat after an engine service and as the technician was checking the shift linkages the shift cable from the engine to the drive failed. I was litteraly standing there when the guy looked over and said that I did not have reverse on my port engine, of course, my response was that I had it (reverse) when I brought the boat in. The shifter had been operating perfectly up to that point.

4 hours labor and $95 for the cable later I was back in the water.

Thanks for all of your input! The throttle cable just need to be spun a few times. It's back up and running now.
