Nobody said the peak HP and torque wouldn't dictate the winner. You just have to prove it can live at that level for 20 minutes at peak HP like it would be run in a boat. Are you a little concerned your iron headed mill will go into a detonation fit after about 3 mins at peak HP on 89 octane?
