502 pistons

Default 502 pistons

did gm use wiesco pistons in 502 marine engines. my pistons have 6226a3 stamped on them. this engine was sopposed to be a virgin. head gasket leaked water into #7 and burnt piston

My understanding was that they used SRP's.

mj,
I do seem to remember doing a 502 that had Wiseco pistons in it a bunch of years ago. It also had a very unusual ring combination. I will look in my computer at the shop on Wednesday and see what I can find.

I have a couple 525efi pistons they have 250hrs. and one of the has 2hrs.

mj,
I looked this morning and found the work order I was thinking about. I installed a sleeve and got one Wiseco piston for a 502 Mercruiser back in 2005. As far as I remember the engine was untouched prior to that point. I was wrong about the rings, I used a set of the regular Speed Pro rings for the 502. I dont see that piston number in the Wiseco catalog any more but they have one listed in thier Pro Tru line.
