Default Engine Remote Starter Switch

Anyone used a remote stater switch on a boat engine? Seems that it would be helpful when working on the engine alone?

I have done them before. They are very handy. Just a little advice....put a seperate switch to activate the push button so it doesn't get accidentaly hit either when the engine is already running or when it's off and someone's hands could be in there.
I actually did one with a small panel that was mounted off to the side of the engine compartment. It had a key switch (just on and off) and the starter push button. You can either make it where it will just spin the engine over or you can set it up to actually start it. Let me know if I can help.

See your local tool truck, sears etc. They have a switch with alligator clips that will keep you from having to hard wire it.

If you want a permanent switch, check out the Painless Starter Switch (about $20). It is waterproof with a rubber cup cover. We mounted ours on the vertical ignition plate on the port side of the engine so it is a short jump to the rear mount starter switch. Very clean and handy when adjusting the valves.

do it this way. eddie is exactly correct. the aligator clip idea sounds great until you are laying in the bilge trying to fumble them on and short across something. do it one time. do it correctly
