Default Trailer bounce

I am having a problem with my trailer and hoping someone out there might have had a similar problem and solution. Trailer is an Eagle Spirit tandem axle with brakes on rear wheels carrying a 1997 Baja 232 Islander. When I go over a good size dip or bump, the right side (from the rear view) wheels bounce enough to become airborne. The left side does not do this. Needless to say, I am somewhat concerned. I can't recall this happening until mid season last year.

I have checked the tire pressure. Tires are all new last year. Tried rotating tires side to side. Removed, cleaned and lubed springs, shakles and bolts. Geometry all seems correct. Eagle confirms this is the right trailer for my boat. Still having same problem.

Any ideas?

Mike

Question

I've never heard or seen just one side doing that! I know from past experience that how the boat is situated will affect how the trailer reacts......you may want to move the boat forward or backward to see if it makes any difference......other then that my guess would be the springs going bad! No clue!

sounds like your springs are frozen on that side of the trailer,, jack it up spread the leaves and spray some wd40 or teflon spray between them and retry.

I would try the above suggestions first if they dont work you might try dropping the air pressure in your tires a little bit.

If none of that works get a real trailer not an Eagle
Just kidding although I have heard about alot of bad experiences with eagle trailers

Thats wierd,,, I have never heard anything bad about Eagles,,, I was always told it was one of the better trailers out there.... There prices certainly lean that way !!!!

I know a guy that had a Martini and he custom ordered a trailer from Eagle it came in with the bunks set wrong and being a fixed bunk trailer he had to send it back to have it changed, after the 3rd or 4th time of them changing, and the bunks still not being right I think he just bought another brand trailer.

Also a good freind of mine custom ordered a Eagle for his 25 foot cruiser, and it came in 2.5feet too short with no more room to slide the winch foreward.

I am by no means trying to bash Eagle Trailers or give them a bad name I am just sharing the experiences that I have seen and been told about with fellow baters.

I already thought about the frozen spring thing. Took all four off, disassembled each, cleaned and lubricated and reinstalled; no luck. Boat floats and sits level on the trailer. I don't want to move the boat forward on the trailer because I want the transom to be supported over the bunk supports and I can't move it back without overhanging the bunks.
