Note: I went with a 206/210 intake and exhaust with a 458/458 lift with a marine 112 lobe separation. I know its not much but it was intended to fit a completely stock heads with absolutely no extra work done to valves etc. Im just wondering what would be a good carb to run with this. I was thinking on going with a holley carb

Woah, hold on here that can't be right, that's TINY!
Can you post all the cam specs? and what ratio rocker arm you are using (I'll assume 1.5?).... Need the lift and duration @.050. I'm a bit confused. |

hey guys thanks again for all the advise. I did some research as well and i did call the guru also but due to budget i had to go with a custom grind cam from competition cams. I called summit racing and the guys over there were extremely helpful and guided me to onto getting a marine custom grind cam. It had good lift and duration plus the lobe separation that i needed to go perfect with my setup. lets hope that i went the correct route...Next step is the Carb. Any suggestions ??

yea it wasnt a big cam. I didnt want to do any machine work to the heads so i went as big as i could with so i can keep all the stock valves etc. I was looking for something reliable. That custome grind cam was $310 at comp cams and Bob's was going for a lil more. Only thing was Bobs cams are billet steel and the comp cams was giving me another lower grade steel.

Can you post the #'s on the cam card or the part #, the #'s you posted don't make sense to me, the lift is low and I can understand wanting to go with the stock springs, but the 206/210 makes no sense for duration? If that's what you are referring to.
On the Comp Cams Site this is the smallest Marine cam listed: http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=201&sb=2 |
that is the one , i called and between cam, lifters chain, springs, dist gear, was very reasonable. for my vortec to make a roller motor, time to save,BOB M is still the best, build it right the first time, for a carb for your set up holley 600

No doubt Bob had the best quality and his cams are the most durable. He is very knowledgeable and can customize a cam to you application . I just wanted a light cam and didnt want to get too crazy with my first boat. There were alot of factors to consider and lots of additional money to invest the bigger the cam...

A cam from bob shouldn't cost THAT much more than a comp cams??? Does it???
You are correct, that pricing is entirely inaccurate. The original quote requested was for a cam and lifter package. Price quoting on any forum is entirely inappropriate, especially when the figures misrepresent the actual components. |
my apologies for posting the wrong price, and yes, it is inappropriate to post pricing over the internet. Will not happen again.
