Do I need any of my connectors from the factory wire harness? It a Mefi 3 system. I'm trying to sell my complete 500 efi system and want to make sure I don't part with anything I need. Thanks! Great post!!

Just put together 2 Holley HP EFI systems. Anyone out there using their stock Thunderbolt distributor and a Crane HI-6M box? Just looking to properly wire up my ignition.
Thanks

What is the Crane HI-6M box for? Is the Thunderbolt distributor an HEI style?

Regards,

HI-6M is a Crane programmable CD ignition box. The Thunderblot is not an HEI, it uses an external coil.

After looking over the instructions I noticed the illustration that notes the Crane HI-6 should be connected just like the MSD-6 using the loose white wire if ECU is going to control timing..Just trying to be a little overly cautious.
I assume the Thunderbolt is magnetic pick up (2 wire) distributor? It is not hall effect (3 wire)

Thunderbolt is Hall Effect. That's why the rotor has a wheel with square 'windows',

The EST is magnetic

Here are a couple of quotes I found describing the TBolt distributor.
"The sensor uses a hall effect transistor and a magnet to sense when to fire the coil."
"Uses a Hall-Effect type sensor to trigger ignition accurately even at extremely low RPM."

I was thinking it was like page 17 of the following PDF maybe page 19, but not enough wires.

The White/red wire going to the TbboltIV sensor is 12V ign+. The green / white is the hall effect signal out.
As you know the TboltIV pickup has it's own ground that goes from sensor to block.

BTW: Hall Effect pick up does use a magnet, but don't let this confuse a Hall Effect Pick Up with a Magnetic pickUp.
