That is great! I bought my boat a couple years ago and thought "well, the PO must have been dislexic" since pushing the shifter forward, the boat went into reverse and vice versa. Before I realized that by simply switching props, the shifter would have to be backwards. My Advantage performs better with the props spinning out, but the shifter is backwards. I just got used to it, now I know I can switch the cables on the shifter to make it "right". THANKS!!!

Turns out maybe the Current owner is dislexic

I know the feeling... I went a borrowed a test prop for my new to me 24 cig, and payed no attention that it was a RH rotation prop and my drive was a LH. Put the boat in the water and it wouldn't back off the trailer. Felt pretty dumb that time. At least I didn't try to run it in reverse and smoke a tranny

Yes there is adjustment on the shifter plate in the engine compartment you just need to make sure that the drive fully engages when you shift it into gear or you could be buying an upper gear set
