Default merc #6 props

i have noticed a lot of mercury #6 props show a dia&pitch number on them, and a hp number,my question is what does the hp number mean,is it the max hp that the prop can handle?

I think so mike. I dont remember seeing that on older props though. Maybe merc came out with it from a blade thickness standpoint? Like say a 34p prop, for a 700NXT boat, might be thinner from the factory than say a 34p 1075 prop? Migt be something since the props started being cut on a cnc.

I'll have to bring my 17x29 older props over and show you. They are very thick blades.
