Default Trim Tab / Tie Down Suggestions

Picked up a set of tabs today (thanks ridefast77) and was looking for some advice regarding mounting location. Sounds like the best area is as far outboard as possible just inside the chine. That lands them right on top of my tie downs. Should I just remount the ratchet on the trailer or mount the tabs inward? I really don't want to mess with moving the eyelets on the transom so that isn't an option for me. Any help is much appreciated!

Easiest/best would look to relocate the rachets further out.

My strap go thru the hinge of my K-plains for a pretty much straight shot. Wouldn't work with the bennet type tabs.

Move the mounts on the trailer as far outside as you can.

IMO your tabs should be mounted between the middle 2 chines not way out towards the ends so strap clearance shouldn't be an issue. There shouldn't be any interferance with the drive steering either, that's why the K planes are angled. Just my 2cts.

I agree. When you put them out too far you need a negative angle for them to contact the water causing more of a dragging/snowplowing affect.

I have done some research on this and I want to move mine inward and horizontal. My theory is I can run them in a more neutral position so they act like an extension of a hull instead of digging in. But, this is just a theory!

I was told the same thing with my 25 eliminator because of the speed it is capable of it chine walks violently & the factory told me to put some big tabs as close to the drive as possible to increase the running surface but not interfere with steering. Randy
