I am in the process of installing my whipple charger. As I put it back together I noticed a vac. line that goes to a canister shaped part on top of my sea water pump. Does anyone know where the other end of that vac. line should hook up? I replaced the stock fuel pump which had a vac line from the factory cool fuel box to the intake manifold. I am not talking about that one. I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks

On Merc 496's that line is not a vacuum line that hooks up to anything on the engine. It is the air purge line for one side of the air purge valve system on the engine that the little blue hand pump would energize and open if you were readying the engine for winter storage in freezing temps. That cylinder on the back of the sea pump back housing is just used this way to vacate raw water from that part of the sytem that might freeze in cold winter temps in certain parts of the world. Just route it up an out of the way of pulleys ,belts, etc.

that is part of system extend season so that water won't sit in block. operating this does not winterize engine cooling system, still good amount of water in system and will break these additional components. should be shraeder valve on right handside of forward part of engine with connection for this hose.
