my power steering pump is leaking where the line from the bottle comes in, it was fine last weekend and i just checked everything again and had fluid in the bilge, thought maybe the clamp split the hose so i cut the end off and its still doing it no matter how tight i clamp it on, i just installed imco add-on steering and everything else is good, only difference is i bought power steering fluid from parts store, would this have any effect? it is coming out between the hose and nipple base of pump

Mine did that on my 496 PS pump last year. If you's is like mine there is a 90 deg elbow where it enters the pump, between the line and the pump. That elbow has a very small plug in it, looks lke a small freeze plug. It was corooded and needed replaced. Easy job once you remove the pump.

there is no 90* elbow, the fitting is direct to pump, it almost looks like the nipple is pressed into the pump body and that is where it is leaking, i can't imagine that its cracked but i'm starting to think it might be, never had a hose that would not seal around a fitting with a clamp

ok, took the boat out today and checked the bilge and fluid level all day and it was perfect, not a drop, yet i cleaned fluid out of the bilge just before we dropped in, like it seals up when its warm??? now what? i'll check in the morning to see if its back leaking again, pretty sure it will be
fixxall-the tank feeds the pump from a remote location, no tank on pump itself, and its leaking where the rubber hose feed the top of the pump
