I just added the dual ram mayfair add on and its pretty tuff to turn also. The drive is rock solid but around the docks it can be alittle hard at idle. I heard you can drill out the little fitting that the high pressure hose screws into the back of the pump and it suppose to help make it work better. I will try this soon. I have had the boat out serveral times and I dont have any air in the system. I think the drill size is 11/64 correct me if im wrong.

Another thing you could do is take the filter out and see if It's any better. What does cp say about the problem. You already spent good money that should work with your standard pump. Good luck.

Blownhammer, how long did it take you to get the air bled out? I spent about 3-5 min turning side to side, while checking the fluid level. My drive is tight no play at all. I am pretty sure my hoses are hooked up right because when you turn the wheel the drive moves in the proper direction. Was I suppose to crack any of the fittings to bleed the air out or just cycle the wheel back and forth?
Thanks.
Thanks.

there should be no need to crack open any fittings but some have done it to elimiate any remaining air, hose routing would be the hose connected to the ram closest to the drive would be the right and the one closest to the transom plate is left, your brazil valve should have a L and a R on it, double check it. I took about 20 or so min to bleed mine out, turned R to L in 1/8 incriments until lock to lock, always making sure fluid was full, after that i slowly turned full lock to lock about 8-10 times, again always checking fluid, then i went full R, held it there for about 10 sec and then full L and held it there for 10 sec, it was totally bled out this way and the drive was rock solid, have had no issues

CP wants me to buy a $500 pump...not going that route yet...working on my own pump setup...I used to do steering systems years ago.....still remember most of that....so going to do my own pump, see how it works...seems quite a few are having these issues....but many work with stock pumps ?? so don't understand that part....
