Default msd coil compatible with stock system need help

burning up ign module sensors inside the distributor.
called msd they said and alot of you said it might not be compatible with the stock mercury thunderbolt iv ign

MSD needs to know what ohms my stock coil is suppose to be at then they said they will know if there msd high vibration coil will work.

does anyone know what a stock coil on a 454 330hp motor should ohm out at?? thanks

don't know the ohms, but have seen certain coils not work with certain ignitions...several of MSD coils are ignition specific

You may need a ballist resistor in the line. I tried A blaster coil with a points dist. without a resistor and the points lasted about a minute before they turned blue and pitted.

got off the phone today with msd they said they are compatable (coils)

Why not just get a Merc coil and be done with it???? I had an MSD coil go bad after 2 years on my Pantera. I put a 10 year old Merc coil on it and it was still working fine.

i got over 20 yrs on my mallory pro coil..if you remember super shops way back when,,thats where i got t from..
