Like your suggestion, but I need to match the HP6A filter (it has a 1 1/2-12 thread). The 1794 has a 1 3/16-16. Damn.

Need to find an HP6 or HP6A replacement that has a high flow rate and NO bypass valve. Letting the 30lb. bypass valve in the filter pad do that job.

Default Update

I had an HP-6A on backorder from Summit, for a couple months now, and they finally just refunded my money. I guess I'll be running the Moroso filters.

I like the wix and can get them cheaper.

I just cut open a wix R filter on my chevelle ,had 40 miles on it,when I cut it open the top metal that the center tube is glued fell apart, ive never had one do that before, like the glue was bad, I don't think it was loose yet but when I grabbed it to cut the element out of it,

The 51222r ive had good luck with,i prob use 8-10 a year on the boat and cut everyone open.

ill try and find the picks of the small one that fell apart

Rob

I would think moroso is made by wix or somebody else,or having it made,I know they repackage alot,

what filter does merc use in the 1075 and 1200's?????

I think i remember the 57003R had a larger micro rating, when I called wix once they said one if for asphalt and the other for dirt track, I've never cut open a 57003,

Ive got a thread on here somewhere with all the specs I found

Also when I was researching a fuel water separator high flow w/ a good micron,Wix was going thur there charts and actually told me on a few somebody else made them for them to there specs.

http://www.discountfleetsupply.com/wix51222r.html about 14,oo each

I know when my buddy at Napa would sell them to me for 11 somthing, he said it showed there cost at 9 something, and I bet they got it cheaper than that, thats just what the manager could see.

Anybody have any reservations about the flow change and filtration rating when going to the "R" version? I was using the 51060R which offers 28 gm and 61 microm filtration rating whereas using the 51060 or NAPA Gold 1060 gets you 6-11 gm but at 21 micron. My first reaction was more flow is better but if the filter capacity exceeds the pump capacity why give up filtration? I know the can on the R version looks cool and all but...
Anybody have specs on stock 525 EFI pump capacities?

There is not much info or comparisons on the larger filters, only the 1 quart sizes. Normally, I would lean towards the Wix, but there is no Micron rating on their site. Fram seems to have made some improvements with the HP6A. K&N looks good, but the bypass is a lower 11-17 psi.

What's the best filter from the list above?
What filter did you wind up using? Everyone is confused about the filter having a bigger stud 1.5" - 12. Including me, I commented on it also about 10 years ago. I recently switched mine out to the larger system. Did not realize I would be limiting my filter options. Amsoil and Donaldson show no cross reference. Using the Wix 51222R currently, I may switch to the K&N HP-5001.

I checked what was ran on the race boat. It was a Fram HP6. It is a 1-1/2" 20 micron filter.
