It's not that silent choice is illegal, it's just not sufficient by itself to quite the engine. You must also have some type of muffler in addition to the silent choice. If all you had was silent choice, then you could just open it up anytime and make a bunch of racket and not comply with the sound laws. You can have the silent choice with mufflers so that when you open the pipes, it will still meet the sound laws.

I have been VERY pleased with GGB mufflers. I have used them on engines up to 800 hp with no speed loss. However, they did have a HUGE effect on noise reduction. They make a really nice product. They offer replacement tips as well as clamp on mufflers that go on your existing tips.

Eddie, with the GGB setups do you just insert them into what ever tips you are running?

You can. They have slip ins, as well as ones that clamp onto your existing tips. They also offer full replacement tips with mufflers built in.

Whens the last time you bought a clamp on muffler from them? I really liked mine except one is at the bottom of a 100 ft deep lake and since they started making mufflers again a few years ago they dropped the clamp on versions unless I am mistaken, inline and inserts but no clamp ons from what I have seen, Smitty

When I looked on there website this summer to check if they were building clamp-ons again all they showed was inline, inserts and stellings inserts. A friend tried to buy some when they went back into business a few years ago and they told him they no longer make them and haven't for years.

In my case my helper never tightened the bolts that dig into the tails I have (I actually drilled holes in the tails), he only tightened the clamps so this should have never happened and in the end its my fault for not checking them either, Smitty
