I don't see why you would want to block off the small hose, although looking at pictures of newer Gil Manifolds it doesn't look like they use that anymore, so who knows.

As far as your hot spots in the riser it's normal. There are some thin areas in the riser that don't get as much water as other places, that will heat up, especially around the bend. If you ever run it on the hose at idle, you will notice condensation on other parts of the pipe, except the hot spots. You don't want to be leaning on them with the motor running, that's for sure.

I noticed that, even before the full system was installed, the risers would get hot and you would not want to get too close or you would be a warm arm. What is the recommendation for the small hose if you have a full system freshwater cooling. I could not come up with a better plan and could use some suggestions. Thanks
