Welch plugs are draining the fuel bowl into the intake. A simple fix for any compatent Qjet carb rebuilder.

There seems to be some confusion here . Webers , Edelbrocks and Thermoquads are NOT Rochester Quadrajets

Notice the Weber has a one piece main body whereas the Quadrajet is a three piece design that is prone to leaking . Both are great carbs non the less .

exactly....why I cannot see a weber leak....

What size are these? My 44's had this issue and it was simply the o ring in the base of the fuel bowl. Granted they were on a hopped up vw but same thing. You might post this question on thesamba.com as there are numerous Weber experts over there. It is a vw site.
Or, gut them, use them as throttle bodies and go megasquirt FI.
