JBK,
Are they trying to pass those off as stock Merc 600's? Get a serial number off the block and find out what those motors are. The only 600's I have seen were twin carbed. Merc used the 502 as the base for those motors. I'm not an expert on engines but guys I have talked to don't like running single carbs on top of blowers because the outside cylinders run lean. Dan |
those blower looks like 250s with single carbs. i have heard its an ok setup with dom 1050 or bigger but dual carbs is much better. 420 megablowers are big ole things.

Merc 600 SC- 502 CID
GM engine code stamped in block, (last 2 letters) gen IV & V-- FJ or HJ B&M Mega Charger model 420 @ 6 PSI ratio .93:1 2- 700 cfm Holley PN 80427 |
candyman, puder, david - thanks for the 411. i have not questioned the owner about the discrepancies yet. i thought it was kind of funny though, all the research that i had done before i posted here, stated 502cu inch, dual 700's, w/ a 420 mega. puder, i think the blowers look like 250's as well.
thanks again. i'll keep you updated as to what i find. chad |
Are those possibly 525SC's in the picture? If so, they are 454 blocks, not 502's.
|
525s would have weiand blowers. Those are B&M 250s, but good point. Need to see what is stamped on the block.
