do you talk to yourself all day long? People looking for information dont want to listen to stupid people with opinions but no real intelligence. Your attempt at trying to make someone seem dumb by saying “single engine boats weren't designed to do 100mph” but then turn right around and correct yourself makes you a complete moron. pluss single engine v hauls have been doing over 100 for YEARS. Back when racers had balls there were open class, hauls doing over 100 mph. Someone decided it was to scary do to injuries in that class and terminated it. But that has never stopped people who cant afford 2 or more engines from doing well over 100mph. in fact my 850 horsepower 1990 Scarab 26CV with a surface drive will do 100 mph right now!! And with a little seasoning, and the ability to manage your risk in short sprints, 100 MPH in a 26 foot single engine boat is fine!!! please dont respond just to read your own posts or just to be negative to someone!! |
Why do people reapind when they should shut up

You should do a search for the "kook" thread. A very sad story that unfolded right here before everyone's eyes. He put big power in either a 26 or 28 and eventually put his buddy in a coma. It kinda grounded me at the time.
There is a reason the term speed boat exists. Accidents happen, high risk is unfortunately part of trill seeking. maybe you should try a sailing boat form!! |

i,d have to say the aussies have the small V bottom record with a merc 1750 in a 21 to 24 foot boat with 2 number 6 outdrives mid 140s while towing 2 water skiers id say they win the brass balls award!

The Aussie ski racers take their trailers to another level too.
Off the hook. |
The guys at Kunkle marine in Ohio have been running triple digits for years and years with single engine Checkmate Convincors. Same with Sam at Action Marine in Florida.
|
On second thought after seeing that thing what's way above brass balls? carbon fibre or titanium ? I would not ride in it let alone be on a rope on one ski 300 feet behind it these guys are f___ing nutz!
|
Yep
I bought a 25 Convincor from them a couple yrs back and have know them for 30 yrs. Can’t believe I didn’t think of them for this thread... They had a 25’ running mid/high 120’s 20 yrs ago.

Dude, grab a beer, go to you tube and search “Australia Ski Racing” and enjoy.
Some of The spectator video shot from the river banks is off the hook. Look up the “Bridge to Bridge”. One of their most famous. 60 mls, River bends, narrow ass passes, no stops, full zoot! Im an OB guy and their stuff is crazy. Their IO hardware is beyond what I’ve seen in the states. And, pull up two slalom skiers from a deep water start, hold your foot on the floor, race 30 mls up a river, do a u turn and come back! Their is also some spectator video of a guy that ran an offshore cat in the Bridge to Bridge and spun at a turn where there were spectators in water filming that had to dive out of the way! Still on my bucket list.

Love these guys and a great video about them.

you happen to have a link? I searched with no luck.
Good reminder to be careful as much as possible! https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...tops-90-a.html https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/...pped-boat.html |
Looks to me like classic chine walk w/o enough steering chop to counter act/correct it.
A vee on the pad/keel at speed and aired out, will keep your attention. If you have seat time. Lack of above, you and yours are going for a swim. This is what created cats 😉

I'm thinking the fastest single engine boat, has 2 Vs on the bottom
|
|
It'll be interesting to see if the Tuff 34 can hit their targeted 160 mph. If so they would be by far the fastest single engine V bottom anywhere.
|
Cool thread, i have been 94-96 mph in my 280 velocity on a 65 degree day, 10 inches of chop in salt water at sea level. 1/2 tank and me. she was dancing around on the pad with trim tabs up all the way. normally it will hit 88-90 on normal days with tabs level with bottom of boat. sci 575 with some mods, prob 650 -675 hp. max5 29 pitch prop. I will say this is the best turning boat i have ever driven. boat is VERY sensitive to prop type and design. Boat does really good in 2-3 footers at 65
