I don't think your numbers are that far off, it would take a very formidable motor to run 85 in most V hulls. Being a little familiar with that hull, I'll bet a paddle boat will take you out of the hole with the current set up. Three things I would look at: 1- Are you sure that hull likes the Bravo 1 prop the best? Call Profile boats in Sumner Iowa and ask....though your shortened drive may limit or help with certain props. 2 & 3- Call Jim Valako [Valako Raing Heads, I think in Grand Rapids MI] and see if he can put some of his wedges in your intake port, at 340cc + porting those ports are gigantic even for a 540 incher at 5200RPMs! While your heads are off , check to see what your true compression ratio is...if it was built as a blower motor, you might be closer to 8:1.
With these last two things, I think you would pull that bigger wheel better for a few more tics on the speedo, and more importantly; increased drivability....resulting in a PLEASURE BOAT.
Have a great day.

Jim Valakeo will know the answer to the head problem. It does sound like the ports are WAY too big. I have the wedjes in my heads and boy do they work great.
