Yah 65 would even be nice. As I said texas lakes are low and small these days.
I mainly took it to thr shop because insurance said they may cover some or all of it... not counting on it. But at least said they would cover diag and tear down. I know it sounds stupid but id be sad to have the boat here messing with it. Maybe miss something small and cause a problem. Im not such a great mechanic myself. Also had no clue how I woukd get the motor out of that sucker when its on thr trailer.
id rather just have the right guys do it. And know its done right. I have shortcuted things in the past and it always bites me in the ass.

I don't know how insurance can cover a rod knock, but if they do get them to cover keep the details to yourself because it is prob not legit lol.

The 496s that 4Bus referred to in post 122 used to belong to me. I bought them brand new & sold them with 170 some hrs on port & 140 some on stbd. I installed Hardin stainless pumps on them & they ran great. I believe the coupler was replaced on the port engine after I sold it. They are drop in & go units. I just upgraded to bigger power. Randy

First #1 a bbc is a bbc. It don't matter what it was in they are all the sane except for a few variations from truck engines having diff cams and a few other things as boats or cars having if ya build one ya can build any!!
#2 my boat will run 59.2 GPS with the prop I tried out at the lake and at no point did I say I used any parts from my Camaro. I stated the motor that I took out was the same exact thing right down to the stock crank with the same forging numbers. Again u CAN'T read I see
#3. This is the best one. I have never said i raced go karts in my life. U made that one up on your own to make your self look cool. In my book I guess that makes u a fool...
#4 I have met lots of engine builders over the yrs and got lots of good advise from them. Yes I have used magazines for ideas on diff things to try out. Not real sure what's wrong with that??
#5 umm I was insulted first when someone told me I can't build a motor for $5 g when I have done it! Maybe prices are up some so it may be a little more.
Regardless the thread creator is getting good advice and I have let it go but u still seem to be crying about it. What ever I'm done with this crap. I'm keeping tabs on the thread cause if he gets a efi motor and puts in his boat I'm interested in seeing how you adapt from a carb to EFI. I admit I'm not up on efi marine engines and may want to look into it some day.
Articfriend Have fun being the best I don't know what it's like cause I'm not!!!

Yes, but that's just his family boat, he wasn't even trying, he was testing a prop and decided to make a video to show us all how scared we should really be. He was thinking about building an engine to "beet" us all, but he is too busy at the go cart track right now beeting Roush, AJ Foyt, Tony Stewart, and God.
Last week when he "beet" Roush, Jack himself stopped by the pits and jumped on the tailgate of his 88 S-10 and asked 2fastforeveryone how Roush could be as successful as him. Turns out Roush will now be using stock GM engines from the junkyard with new heads for all their racing, they are all the same thing anyway.
The only positive thing to come out of this thread....no one will ever pick on Mike Tkach's grammar again

How do you adapt, very simple EFI which stands for Electronic Fuel Injection by the way, you turn the key and almost always it just runs perfect, slow, fast , hot weather, cold weather, good gas, bad gas you name it computer adapts for almost everything. Except for the POS IAC on my 496ho's I couldn't be happier. Really is not much to adapt to.

So2fast5u, I think you did ask in one post what is the difference between a car and boat engine. I had many questions myself as I had built CAR engines before but never built a MARINE engine. So here is a quick list, bearing clearances are different, freeze plugs, oil coolers need to be proper size to HP, comp ratios are different, cam profiles are different due to reversion issues (do you know what reversion is?), so you need proper exhaust for your cam and some cams for CARS are still to big for the best MARINE exhaust. That's just a basic list for a low HP MARINE engine. The other REAL MARINE high HP engine builders in this thread will have more to add to this list.

How about ME. Bring it here I will rebuild it and add what ever u want to it. I have done many of bbc for trucks and a couple for drag cars. There not hard to do at all. I just did the motor in my boat. It runs just fine. U could just put new bearings and a new oil pump in it and run it. Have done that a few times too. Just depends how long it ran with no oil pressure. No way I would mess with 3000 or 4000 for a motor when u got one that just needs rebuilt.
I love the entertainment
