Default Mod my 420 intakes or buy 8:71's??

Getting a little frustrated. Got 2 420 mega blowers for a decent price and after I got them found out the intakes were for tall decks. Only got one price on milling my intakes down so far but we'll just say it's high. They don't make or have any of the 9.8 deck intakes anymore. I'm thinking of trying to sell these and just buy some 8:71's that seem like everyone has an intake for. Think I even found one for a damn v6! Thoughts? Am I just having a "moment"? If I boated in fresh water it wouldn't be a big deal but I don't want to be on the hunt in a couple years.

Don't the 420's and 250's share the same intake? I might have an extra short deck intake laying around.

I thought they did, but remember a thread saying differently. If anyone can confirm that I'd definitely be interested.

I was told they were the same as the 250 as well, but when I took off my 250 and installed my 420 the intakes were a little different. They were the same bolt pattern so I think it will work. My 420 intake must have been a newer version because it had added material for support in a few places. As for cutting down the intake, it shouldn't be that expensive. I had a tall deck intake cut down before when my mill was down for repairs and it cost around $50-75. It's been a few years so I'm going off memory.
