Thanks for input so far. I now have 8-9 things to check, but with the boat in the garden and working during the day, I can't get any further before I can get out in daylight Saturday. Hope it doesn't rain, because if it does, I'll get wet!

It runs now.

I'm not sure exactly what did it, but after switching PCM, CPS, coil and rotor, and wiggling all wires, and shorting battery power to the purple wire around the ign switch it started. So I'm replacing dist cap, rotor, CPS, ignition switch and lanyard switch (wires are very thin...). The first three items are std Mercruiser and can be found on ebay. But where do I find the last two that fit my Baja Outlaw, it's the first time I had to replace anything on the boat that's "Baja" and not "Mercruiser"?

look at cpperformance for safety lanyard. key switch need to know terminal count and length of threaded portion, maybe mercury or aftermarket.
