Default How do you adjust the tension on a Zero Effort Throttle Control

My port engine throttle lever on my 1992 Merc 200 hp keeps slipping back . I have to keep bumping the throttle up. Where is the tension adjustment. These throttles are new to me.

Thanks Wannabe

On my Eddie marine elites there was an Allen head screw in the rubber where the stick goes down

There has to a screw somewhere. I hope someone with experience on the zero efforts can chime in. The eddie marines are different.

Sounds like one of the detent balls fell out. They sit on little springs and hold the throttle in each position. Did you have these apart?

Old thread but no adjustment on mercs. Just a ball and spring. You can replace spring apparently.

If you take the thing apart.there is a pocket with a little spring and ball on the side plate. the spring pushes the ball into a curved piece of plastic on the lever. That controls the tension but its not really adjustable per say, but with a little thought you can modify it to do what you want..

I just takes a little fiddling with it. I didn't like the ratchet feel, a little work and it was nice and smooth.
