Thanks for all your help guys,
got it sorted with a couple of diodes & added relays to reduce the power thru the switch, works great !!!
I live in Perth, Australia & theres very little here in the way of performance boats so the project was a challenge, got some photos & vids on the site below,

Wow!!! Very cool boat and video. Not many people can say they built there own boat. Looks like your havin' fun now.

I'm having heaps of fun in the new boat, couldnt resist goin' the retro "Miami Vice" radar arch either.
I think I need a new project though,
it was good challenge !!!
