did you ever get a chance to put a mechanical oil press gauge on that motor?

I'd hate for you to have a faultly gauge and go through all this bull****.

No but now both engines are low in oil pressure and they just keep poofing out the carb (the starboard engine does) and with all that has happened with bent pushrods and all this burning up starter crap
the best thing for me to do right now is to yank them out (he is paying for them to come out) and send them back, have them gone over again from top to bottom both of them
and then reinstall them and see what happens
I want the cams and lifters all checked out as well for all that cranking and poofing and all the other crap I just dont trust that all of it is there
I want cam bearings checked too and that means pull cam out so to dig that far into it, they are going to be basically redone again at his expense.

let him go over them top to bottom and we will see what happens next

If you are only getting 4400 rpm , then something isn't quite right beyond the guage anyway. I think you are on the best path for this resoution now!!!!

just have him (engine builder) break the cam in on the floor (if you don't dyno). before putting the engines back into the boat. then you know timing is right again, oil press is right, thing starts, thing idles right, and all you have to do then after install is find the WOT button.
that's how waterfoul did it. right on some blocks on the floor.
I have a number of late night voice mails of lumpidy idles and him heee heeein in the background to prove it

that way if bending push rods burn up another starter (hopefully not ever again) then the engine builder found out and fixes it before you take delivery. I think you are in good shape now!!! with this plan. you are in control of taking delivery of these engines when you see them running good on the floor.

He wont run them on the floor that is the freakin problem
he is not equiped to do that (yeah I would think that would be somehting all engine builders would do, have a little engine stand with a radiator and a little control panel with a key and other stuff blah blah.)
but as soon as engines go back in at Ike's Ill get it all together and then maybe Ike and I can get them started and see what the hell is going on.
I told Ike before, if he wants, if the engines are back in time, before I go on vacation and he wants to take it out on a test drive while I am down in Maryland, dude, go beat the snot out of it.
if it dies, then back to engine builder again

I have spent BUKU bucks to get big HP engines in this thing and by god I paid for it and I will not accept any BS in return, I work too freakin hard for my money and I expect my engines to give me alot of HP and alot of speed and run reliable for a long time with proper upkeep.

Did not get them out yet
Had bad weather on saturday so more or less stuck in the house
and on Sunday I was putting up a fence and finishing the deck on the back of the house I just built off the family room to the pool.

I got the engine hatch off, back seats out, exhaust risers off, all cables and t-bolt ignition modules ect all taken apart
Just have to drop engine accessories into the bilge off the front of the engines and that should just about do it

Spoke to Ike and I am shooting for Wed to get boat down there to him and let him take it from there.
I am going on vacation this coming saturday so I am just going to leave it for a week at Ike's shop

Sorry no news, I am so overly pissed at this thing that I think it is beginning to show that I just dont give a rats ass anymore.
It will be next year before she will RUN RUN so why kill myself now? I dont have that much warm weather left so I do want to enjoy at least a tad bit of what is left

Hell kids go back to school next week and week after
