Florida used to have full inspection through the seventies and emission testing ran a little longer. They claimed it was no longer worth the cost because the majority of cars were passing (newer cars on the road). Hence, the POS Brown Corolla with one wheel brakes and no tail lights was born (favored by those fortunate enough to make it to the US,but not able to obtain a license or insurance) .God Bless America!

So if a completely NON road worthy auto that could not pass inspection in other states is ok to drive around in Florida . Really what if that auto with bald tires or rusted out brakes could not stop in time and slammed into your auto at a red lite. I bet you would change your mind then.
Not everyone in Florida drives a nice auto plus saltwater damage of brakes, radiators and under parts of the auto is very dangerous. Who am I to say about whats good in Florida since I live in Texas. A lot we have a home on the East coast of Florida currently for the past 30 years on the water and what hunk of junk our auto became just sitting in no time.
Anytime I visit, yes a lot of very nice cars driving around but what a bunch of rust buckets driving around as well that would not pass our state inspection in DFW. There is more to a vechicle inspection than emission over here. Thank whomever for putting some safety into the mix. Even if you have one bald tire over here you failed the state inspection.

New Hampshire's state inspection program absolutely focuses on safety. Without this program there would be a huge amount of deathtraps on the road. As it is, there are plenty of unethical shops that will just lick-and-stick your car for the quick $45 bucks. Myself, I could care less if they end up in a tree, it is my wife and kids I am worried about these clams plowing into.

Yup. Totally agree with DonziMatt in all regards.
We (Matt and I) are in a heavy salt use for winter area. Cars/trucks turn to schit very quick,
Roads get very rough, especially because of winter freezing / rain storms / heavy trucks / etc, etc - so so ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, and etc, etc are constantly needing to be replaced.
I perform Inspections the same on all cars - be it my mom, sister, wife, kid, myself, and all customers. Yes, I failed my kids car once. He doesn't know how to work on cars , so it had to sit there until I fixed it a few days later.
If it's unsafe, it is unethical for it to drive down the road. For the driver, passenger, and other cars on the road.
Matt, one of the famous lick and sticks 1/4 mile from me is now not licking and sticking.
Seems NH is getting better to keep these operations from happening.
Anyway - whomever calls BS on this needs to spend just a day or tow in my shop. Tons of 150-200K + mile cars/trucks over 8-10 yrs old.
Rot is very real on most vehicles 10yrs or older. Put it this way, very few pre-2000 yr vehicles in our area. Why ? Rot !

WTF do you know about our inspection program? I performed inspections in Mass and I thought it was a total ripoff, very little focused on safety and very much focused on OBD testing.
NH inspects brakes, suspension, undercarriage rust, seatbelts, exhaust, anything that is a true safety concern is checked, and the rules are very clear.
You go ahead and believe what you want that it is a vast government conspiracy, but I GUARANTEE you if NH did not perform inspections, our accident rates would definitely be higher.

LOL - Matt, I'd probably move. Too many beat up POS suspensions and way too many near frameless cars/trucks here in NH.
I'm pretty serious that I wouldn't want to live here / drive here if we had no inspections.
I send a good amt of vehicles out of here to the scrap yard that I make no $$$$ on repairs (because the vehicle can't be repaired) or even charging for a sticker.
Pismo had obviously never been under cars/trucks in our area, thus he has no business telling us our business.
Moraly - screw business and the state for now - we have to check out the vehicles driving down the street as too many are worse than just unsafe.
