Default 525efi rev limiter

Can anyone tell me when the 525 is on the hard limiter of 5400 what change in exhaust note is there?

Any backfiring or popping?

Thanks

It will feel like an engine miss/stumble. It shouldn't pop or backfire

I get an early warning of a steady buzzing from the warning buzzer.

So a 525 should not have a crack or exhaust note that is easily noticeable when on the rev limiter with open/dry exhaust?

Run a scan of the engine. It will show up as an overspeed code and how many times it has happened. I would not keep bumping the engine off the rev limiter.

That is correct about hitting the rev limiter as it should feel like a miss / stumble Kind of like somewhat of an ignition component breaking up, then clears up when rpms are lowered.

Oh yes you can hear it in the exhaust , when you stay in it on the rev limiter

Okay so its normal to hear missing in the exhaust note.I do not think mine are noticeable at all but one of my competitors
is extremely cracking and popping.

Normal? No. It will do that if you stay hard in the limiter, I don't think its good on the motor at any time to limit cylinders for any length of time. That is why merc has the audio alert that happens first, then if you stay in it it will crack & pop.
