Dean

IMHO more pitch and diameter. I thought 1to1 was stronger than a overdrive or an underdrive setup. I only had the straightup gears I never ran one any other way.

John, are you running 8% or 13% over drive.?.. I have a transom assembly if you want to come take a look.

They are 1:1

Would like that. Where are you located again?

If anyone has a set of 13% gears laying around, I'm always looking for spares.

I could use a transom assy also, mine spun a bearing and bent the small shaft

CDShack 01-06-2015 04:23 PM

Did it mess up the casting? Small shafts are easy for a machine shop to make.

KAAMASCARAB 01-07-2015 08:11 PM

It didn't help the housing, the new bearing is loose not press fit. I was going to maybe use Loctite bearing mount to glue it in, but don't know if that will work

CDShack 01-08-2015 04:31 PM

If it's pretty snug, I think I'd red locite that dude in there, see what happens.
If it's pretty sloppy, might get a machine shop to machine out the housing and build a "sleeve" to go back in the hole, like seats in heads. Recollection is that boss if pretty thin though.
Had a machine shop chrome my prop shaft and turn it down to fit when I a spun bearing. IF you have a good machine shop around, might just run it over there and see what they think they can do.
