Sometime after 88 noticed a lot of boat mfg's added molded or bolt on platforms. Heard it was a law passed. Figured it was pushed to get more money out of your pocket when renting a slip. My 83 is 33' but bolton platform added close to 35.5 now. Sinc its listed as a 33 thats what is charged for. My 88 Seebold 235 with factory bolt on made it about 25' caharged as 23.5', my Sunsation Aggressor 25' but only 23.5' w/o platform charged for a 25' boat. Thinking I remember 89 and beyound boats were affected.

I was looking at some 28' Checkmates at one time bolt on platforms not included older used ones. Looked at new ones same boat became a 30'er

If I remember right, it's been a few years, 25' Active Thunder was 24' 8", not including bolt on platform, with tape measure.

my marina doesn't care they drop a rope off the front and measure to the furthest point in the back. Either swim platform or drives in up position.

1990 Baja Sport 250ES - 1991 Baja Sport 270ES - Same exact Hull, so I guess 1991 started to include molded in swim platform as length of hull.

Ayuh,.... In what I've found of hull model numbers, in general, of a 3 digit model number, the length is somewhere 'bout the length, in feet, is the 1st 2 digits,.... within a couple feet,...
The 3rd digit is more likely a sub-model number, rather than inches, like outboard, vs; an I/O equiped,... 190, vs; a 195 say,...

As for the Actual length of any hull, a tape measure is the only way to know for Sure,...
What's measured, 'n included or not, depends on who's measurin', 'n why they're measurin',....

I was trying to figure out what models I need to be looking at. I want a boat big enough to take rough water and yet be around 70 mph with a single engine. Which might be like finding a unicorn?
thanks RB
