Thats what I mean, I seen things detonate to nothing and the rod was fine.... ANYTHING is possible though, just because we didn't see it don't mean it can't happen right? HAHA

That was surely a "rookie build" if those were 6.385 rods, trying to figure how the counter weight, scrubbed the piston. What is the compression height of the piston ? 540 CID build; correct ? Using a 6.385 counter weighted crank, with a 6.135 rod and trying to have a taller C.H. on piston, to bring piston up to -.025 D.H.

part # CID Bore Stroke Rod Deck C.H.

Whats the measurement from center of crank to O.D of counter weight ?

Honestly I still have no clue what this guy did...what I have found out so far (hence starting with all new parts and none of this used again)

1-crank is 4.375 stroke
2-rods are 6.385 never measured them but the paperwork said they were that Dave gave me.
3-pistons say for 540 kit
the pistons were at least .020 out of the hole, blocks 4.5030

I have no clue how you can build the rotating assembly and have it hit piston skirts, how the hell did he rotate it?

this is the guy, look at his garage if this works, thats enough to tell me bad news... I have no idea why my buddy went to him...

That's not bent or twisted. It's slightly curved.

Running a 4.375 stroke, 6.385 rod CH of 1.270 would take you .042 out of the hole. If you had a .050 thick gasket the piston would rock and hit. Someone machined pistons down, either a custom piston would be needed or use a 6.535 rod with custom piston having a 1.077 C.H. I'm pretty sure the ring stack would work being its a NA build. I have no idea how you, can swing that piston and rod length around that counter weight unless, you machined down counter weights.
Not the best combination for a 4.375 crank in a 9.800 deck block
